چکیده

Abstract The quasi-SU(3) symmetry was uncovered in full pf and sdg shell-model calculations for both even-even [1] and odd-even nuclei [2]. It manifests itself through a dominance of single-particle and quadrupole-quadrupole terms in a Hamiltonian used to describe welldeformed nuclei. A practical consequence of the quasi-SU(3) symmetry is an efficient basis truncation scheme. In [3] it is shown that when this type of Hamiltonian is diagonalized in an SU(3) basis, only a few irreducible representations (irreps) of SU(3) are needed to describe the yrast band, the leading S=0 irrep augmented with the leading S=1 irreps in the proton and neutron subspaces. Quasi - SU ( 3 ) truncation scheme for odd - even sd - shell nuclei .

Abstract The quasi-SU(3) symmetry, as found in shell modelThe quasi-SU(3) symmetry, as found in shell model calculations [1], refers to the dominance of the single particle plus quadrupole quadrupole terms in the Hamiltonian used to describe well deformed nuclei, and to the subspace relevant in its diagonalization. It provides a very efficient basis truncation scheme. It is shown that a small n...

A Multi-Shell Shell Model for Heavy Nuclei

Performing a shell model calculation for heavy nuclei has been a long-standing problem in nuclear physics. Here we propose one possible solution. The central idea of this proposal is to take the advantages of two existing models, the Projected Shell Model (PSM) and the Fermion Dynamical Symmetry Model (FDSM), to construct a multi-shell shell model. The PSM is an efficient method of coupling qua...

Pseudo + Quasi Su(3): towards a Shell-model Description of Heavy Deformed Nuclei *

The pseudo-SU(3) model has been extensively used to study normal parity bands in even-even and odd-mass heavy deformed nuclei. The use of a realistic Hamiltonian that mixes many SU(3) irreps has allowed for a successful description of energy spectra and electromagnetic transition strengths. While this model is powerful, there are situations in which the intruder states must be taken into accoun...

Single-particle nondegeneracy and SU(3) fermion dynamical symmetry.

It is shown that the SU(3) symmetry of the fermion dynamical symmetry model is essentially preserved even for highly nondegenerate spherical single-particle energies. The breaking of SU(3) symmetry by single-particle energy terms for either normal deformation or superdeformation occurs only through an indirect Pauli effect and is significant only when the spherical single-particle splitting wit...

Projected shell model study on nuclei near the N = Z line

Study of the N ≈ Z nuclei in the mass-80 region is not only interesting due to the existence of abundant nuclear structure phenomena, but also important in understanding the nucleosynthesis in the rp-process. It is not feasible to apply a conventional shell model due to the necessary involvement of the g9/2 sub-shell. In this paper, the projected shell model is introduced to this study. Calcula...
